Men’s Bracelet Size Guide: How to Measure a Wrist and Choose the Right Fit

A bracelet should feel secure, not squeeze your wrist or slide around all day. The good news: finding the right size takes about a minute.

All you need is a flexible measuring tape. No tape? Use a piece of non-stretch string and a ruler.

Find your size in four steps

  1. Measure your bare wrist where you plan to wear the bracelet.
  2. Keep the tape snug against your skin, without pulling it tight.
  3. Write down your wrist circumference in centimetres and inches.
  4. Match that number to the Reynborg size chart below.

Reynborg’s current size guide allows about 2 to 2.5 cm (0.8 to 1 in) between your wrist measurement and the full bracelet length. The lengths in the chart include the clasp, so do not add extra room yourself.

How to measure your wrist

With a flexible measuring tape

  1. Relax your hand and wrist.
  2. Place the tape around your bare wrist, just below the wrist bone or wherever you like your bracelet to sit.
  3. Check that the tape lies flat and is not twisted.
  4. Bring it snugly against your skin. It should touch, not press in.
  5. Read the number where the end meets the scale, then measure once more to make sure.

Keep your wrist relaxed while you measure. A clenched hand or sharply bent wrist can change the result.

Without a measuring tape

Use non-stretch string, ribbon or a narrow strip of paper instead.

  1. Wrap it snugly around your wrist.
  2. Mark where the ends meet.
  3. Lay it flat beside a ruler.
  4. Measure from the end to your mark.

Skip elastic cord: it stretches and can make your wrist seem smaller than it is.

2XL24 cm / 9.4 in21.5–23 cm / 8.5–9.1 in

Use your wrist measurement, not your clothing size. For example, an 18 cm (7.1 in) wrist falls in the recommended range for Large.

Between two ranges? Measure again first. If the result is the same, think about whether you prefer a closer fit or a little more movement.

How should a bracelet fit?

There is no single right answer. Choose the feel that suits you:

  • Close fit: stays neatly in place, but does not pinch or leave a deep mark.
  • Regular fit: feels secure with a little room around your wrist.
  • Relaxed fit: moves more freely and may slide towards your hand when you lower your arm.

If you are between sizes, go roomier if you dislike pressure or enjoy some movement. Go closer if you want the bracelet to stay put. Either way, the clasp should close easily and your wrist should move naturally.

Why the same length can feel different

Length is only part of the story. A bracelet’s band, thickness and clasp all affect the space inside it.

A slim, flexible band follows the wrist closely. A thicker or more structured design can feel snugger, even at a similar end-to-end length. That is why Small, Large or XL can differ between brands and between bracelets built differently.

The Berlin Black and Berlin Azure Blue have nylon bands and stainless-steel clasps. The Lisbon Black combines leather and nylon with a stainless-steel clasp. Check the sizing details for the model you want rather than assuming each one will feel exactly the same.

Use a bracelet that already fits

Already own a bracelet that feels right? It can be a useful reference.

  1. Open it and lay it flat without stretching it.
  2. Measure from end to end, including the clasp.
  3. Remember whether it usually sits close or moves freely.
  4. Compare both its length and construction with the bracelet you are considering.

Do not measure straight across a closed bracelet. That gives you its diameter, while the chart uses wrist circumference and full bracelet length.

Choosing a bracelet size as a gift

Height, build and clothing size are poor clues to wrist size. For a surprise gift, borrow a bracelet they already wear and measure it from end to end, including the clasp. Notice whether they wear it close or loose too.

No bracelet to borrow? Asking for a wrist measurement is safer than guessing. You can still keep the design and colour secret.

If you are unsure, check the current returns information before ordering. Then you will know your options if the fit is not right.

Seven sizing mistakes to avoid

  • Measuring over a watch or sleeve: measure your bare wrist.
  • Pulling the tape too tight: it should touch your skin, not compress it.
  • Adding room before checking the chart: use your actual wrist circumference. The chart already allows for space between your wrist and the bracelet.
  • Treating size labels as universal: one brand’s Large may not match another’s.
  • Mixing up wrist circumference and bracelet length: they are not the same measurement.
  • Using stretchy string: it can distort the result.
  • Measuring once: a second check takes seconds and can catch an error.

Quick answers

What if I am between two sizes?

Measure again. If you are still between ranges, choose based on your preferred fit and the bracelet’s construction. The larger option should allow more movement; the smaller should sit closer. Never choose a size that makes you force the clasp.

Should I measure my left or right wrist?

Measure the wrist where you will wear the bracelet. Your wrists may differ slightly.

Should I measure over my watch?

No. Measure your bare wrist. If you will wear the bracelet beside a watch, leave enough space so the two do not feel crowded.

How tight should a bracelet be?

It should close easily and feel secure without pinching. You should be able to move your wrist naturally. The rest comes down to whether you like a close, regular or relaxed fit.

Can I use my size from another brand?

Only as a starting point. Letter sizes are not universal, and material, thickness and clasp construction affect how a bracelet feels. Compare the actual measurements instead.

Measure once, choose with confidence

Measure the wrist where you will wear the bracelet, check the Reynborg chart and choose the fit you actually enjoy. One careful minute now can save plenty of guesswork later.
